Fresh Figs

About Our Fresh Figs

We sell fresh figs directly at The Figgery and the Hawke's Bay Farmer's Markets from around mid-February and online from around the end of February.  With around 30 cultivars available there are plenty of options

We only sell the highest quality fresh figs in season.  Supply is limited as we only sell a small portion of what we grow as fresh figs

Cultivars Picking Now
Gorgeous Brunoro Black figs picking now along with Brown Turkey and the start of the Adriatics.  Smaller quantities of Malta, Robyn, Brunswick, Pastiliere, Sultane and San Pietro available.

Our figs only breathe air - we don't use any fancy plastic packaging

Because our figs are able to breathe they don't sweat

We package our figs for direct sale at The Figgery or Hawke's Bay Farmer's Market in open cardboard boxes (we supply bags also for customers who prefer this option).  Figs for online orders are packed in cardboard boxes with a plix liner to support the figs during travel.

When choosing fresh figs, select those which are plump and tender with a rich, deep colour for cultivar.
Fresh figs are best eaten on the day of purchase. If you do want to store figs, then keep covered in the refrigerator where they will stay fresh for about two days. Figs are best enjoyed simply with prosciutto or cheese, such as mozzarella or goat’s cheese, but are very versatile and delicious baked. See our recipes for some great ideas.
